Grade 12 Maths Past Papers and Memos in the Grade 10, 11 & 12 Mathematics App

About Grade 12 Mathematics

Grade 12 Mathematics is the paper that opens or closes university doors, and it is written in two parts on two separate days. Paper 1 is algebra, sequences, functions, finance, calculus and probability. Paper 2 is analytical geometry, trigonometry, Euclidean geometry and statistics. They are marked out of 150 each, and each one gives you three hours.

Reading through worked examples will not get you there. Matric maths rewards one thing above all else — the number of full papers you have written under time. The Grade 10, 11 & 12 Mathematics App puts every DBE past paper and marking guideline in your pocket, grouped by year and by exam session, so you never lose an evening hunting a broken download link again.

When a question breaks you, Study Pal AI works it out line by line in plain language, offline, at whatever hour you are actually studying. That is the difference between a paper you wrote and a paper you learned something from.

How to study with Grade 12 Maths past papers

Downloading papers is not studying. This is the loop that actually moves a mark.

  1. 01

Pick a paper you have not seen

Choose a full past paper from a year you have not worked through. Recent papers matter most, but older ones repeat the same question types, so do not skip them.

  2. 02

    Write it under exam conditions

Full time limit, no notes, no phone in reach. A paper you did with the memo open teaches you nothing about what you actually know.

  3. 03

    Mark yourself against the memo

Use the official marking guideline and mark strictly. Method marks matter — mark them the way an examiner would, not the way you wish they would.

  4. 04

    Work through every mistake

For each lost mark, find out why you lost it. Ask the AI tutor in the app to work the question out step by step until you can redo it from a blank page.

  5. 05

Repeat the question type, not the paper

Find three more questions on the same topic from other years and do those. Papers repeat their patterns — that is the entire reason past papers work.

Where Grade 12 Maths marks are actually lost

Calculus is the cheapest marks on Paper 1

Differentiation from first principles, the rules, and the cubic graph question follow the same shape almost every year. Drill those three and you bank a large block of Paper 1 before you touch anything difficult.

Euclidean geometry needs the theorems written out

You cannot reason your way through a rider if you are half-remembering the theorem. Write out every circle theorem and its converse from memory before you attempt a Paper 2 geometry question.

Do trial papers from other provinces

Gauteng, KZN, Eastern Cape and Western Cape preliminary papers all test the same CAPS content in slightly different words. Working through several provinces is the closest thing to seeing the final paper early.
