About Grade 10 Mathematics
Grade 10 is the year Mathematics quietly decides how the next two go. Algebraic manipulation, functions, trigonometry and the basics of Euclidean geometry all start here, and every one of them is assumed knowledge by the time you sit the NSC paper. A shaky Grade 10 is the single most common reason a capable learner struggles in matric.
The Grade 10, 11 & 12 Mathematics App carries Grade 10 past papers and memorandums alongside Grade 11 and 12, so you can see exactly where the work you are doing now ends up in two years.
Work a paper, mark it against the memo, then let Study Pal AI walk you through everything you lost marks on — offline, free, at your own pace.

How to study with Grade 10 Maths past papers
Downloading papers is not studying. This is the loop that actually moves a mark.
- 01
Pick a paper you have not seen
Choose a full past paper from a year you have not worked through. Recent papers matter most, but older ones repeat the same question types, so do not skip them.
- 02
Write it under exam conditions
Full time limit, no notes, no phone in reach. A paper you did with the memo open teaches you nothing about what you actually know.
- 03
Mark yourself against the memo
Use the official marking guideline and mark strictly. Method marks matter — mark them the way an examiner would, not the way you wish they would.
- 04
Work through every mistake
For each lost mark, find out why you lost it. Ask the AI tutor in the app to work the question out step by step until you can redo it from a blank page.
- 05
Repeat the question type, not the paper
Find three more questions on the same topic from other years and do those. Papers repeat their patterns — that is the entire reason past papers work.
Where Grade 10 Maths marks are actually lost
Factorising is the whole subject in disguise
Almost every algebra question in Grade 10, 11 and 12 comes back to factorising cleanly and quickly. If you can only fix one thing this year, fix this.
Learn the trig ratios properly the first time
Grade 10 introduces sine, cosine and tangent. Grade 11 adds identities and Grade 12 adds compound angles on top. Every one of those layers assumes you never have to think about the basic ratios again.
Write full papers, not just exercises
Textbook exercises tell you one topic at a time. Exam papers mix them without warning, which is the actual skill being tested. Start writing full papers in Grade 10 and the habit is already built by matric.
